Rules & Guidelines
Welcome to ohmygirlexchange, a fic exchange focused on the lovely 8 members of Oh My Girl, a Korean girl group under WM Entertainment. Whether you're a fic exchange veteran or completely new to the experience, please take some time to browse through this post!
Like any gift exchange, you give and you get in a fic exchange. You are required to write a fic based on one of the prompts assigned to you, and in return you will receive a fic based on one of the prompts you provided at sign-up. Participants will be assigned to each other based on information provided in the sign-up. Your recipient information will be sent to you via our email, ohmygirlexchange@gmail.com.
The exchange is to remain anonymous until the end of the posting period. Authors will not know who they are writing for and the fics will be posted at first without identifying the author. Once all fics are posted, authors will be revealed in a "Reveal Post." All fics will be posted onto the dreamwidth community by the mods, and we ask that you refrain from uploading the fic onto to your own accounts until after reveals. Furthermore, we request that participants avoid sharing details about their prompts or work-in-progress during the writing period to avoid spoiling the surprise for your recipient. If you ever need to contact your recipient, e.g. to ask about ship preferences or squicks, please contact the mods and we will get ahold of them for you.
You do not need a dreamwidth account to participate in this exchange. You are however required to provide a valid email so that we may send you information about your recipient changes in schedule, reminders, and so on. Updates will also be posted on our twitter, @omgficexchange.
Halfway during the writing period we will check-in on participants. We only ask that you give us an update on your progress, and if you forsee yourself finishing the fic on time. You do not need to provide an excerpt or draft of your work-in-progress.
We ask that if you suddenly unable to participate in this fic exchange to please contact the mods immediately. We understand that life happens, but we really stress that you let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange a pinch hit. "Pinch hitters" will be filling in for people who have to drop out, so you can indicate on your signup that you are willing to do it, and we'll ask you if you can do it if/when someone drops out!

But what the hell is dreamwidth?
There are two primary reasons for choosing a journaling platform such as DW:1) unlike AO3 or AFF, an account isn’t required to participate in the fic exchange (though you are welcome to sign up). In a similar vein,
- This is an exchange for Oh My Girl, and consequently fic should be focused on them.
- We discourage prompts that require the author to be familar with band members outside of Oh My Girl, because there is no guarantee your assigned author will be familiar with them. As an author, you are permitted to include other bands in your story at your discretion, as long as the focus remains on Oh My Girl.
- Idol/Reader fics are not permitted.
- Minimum word count is 1000 words.
- Submit your Assignments by December 18

2) we wish to accommodate participants who would like to remain completely anonymous, which is not possible in exchanges hosted on either AO3 or AFF.
We realize that a number of interested participants might not be familiar with a livejournal(LJ)/DW set up. Do not be intimidated! You do not need to know the full functionality of the website to participate. All the details you’ll need to know will be posted in the sign-up post.
